Thermly
Privacy policy
Last updated November 1, 2026
Thermly is operated by General Resistance, LLC (generalresistance.com). This policy explains what we collect through the thermly.io website, our phone line, the Thermly app and Thermly Alerts texts and calls; why; who we share it with; how long we keep it; and how to have it deleted. Thermly is in its pilot phase. When what we collect changes, we update this page and its date.
What we collect
- Pilot and order requests, and general inquiries. When you send the request form on thermly.io or thermly.io/vending, we save what you enter (your name, email, phone number if you give one, company or business name, roughly how many machines, coolers or deliveries, what you keep cold, and any notes), along with the page you sent it from, the country it came from and your browser's user agent. We don't store your IP address with it. A copy is emailed to our team so we can reply.
- Calls to our sales line. Calls to (864) 432-6175 are answered by our automated phone assistant, who can answer questions, book a phone demo or transfer you to our team. For each call we keep your phone number, the number you called, when the call happened and how long it lasted, a transcript and a summary, and what you told us (such as your name, business, email, how many machines, coolers or shipments you have, and a demo time), and we email them to our team. We don't record the audio. If you book a demo, your name, email and phone number go to our scheduling provider to book it and send you an invite.
- The voice demo. On thermly.io you can talk in your browser with Thermly's AI agent, which works sample data: on the homepage, a fictional food distributor's deliveries and a fictional store group's coolers; on thermly.io/kegs, a fictional beer distributor's kegs. You don't need an account or a phone number. Your microphone is used only after you choose to start, and each call ends after 6 minutes. Bland processes the audio and the conversation for us under its privacy policy, and may record the call's audio and keep that recording in our account; our site doesn't keep any audio. We keep a report of each call: its start and end times and length, how it connected, a transcript and summary (from Bland, or the transcript your browser saw if Bland's doesn't arrive), what the demo's page showed, which demo it was, and on the homepage which of the two you chose to see, and we email the report to Brett. The texts, emails and replies on the demo's page are scripted samples: the demo doesn't send them, and it doesn't contact you or anyone else. If you ask the agent to pass your details to the team or to request a call with Brett, we keep the name, email or phone number, company and note you give with that report and email them to Brett, who follows up personally. Each call's temporary session and the page's scripted messages use random credentials, expire within 15 minutes of the call starting, and are deleted by scheduled cleanup within about 20 minutes. Ending a call doesn't delete its report. The demo doesn't set browser cookies or save data in browser storage. To limit misuse, we count calls with temporary keys derived from your connection's IP address, kept for up to 2 days; we don't store the address itself. Before a call starts, Cloudflare Turnstile checks in your browser that a person, not a script, is starting it; most people never see it. Cloudflare provides it under the Turnstile privacy addendum, and we receive only whether the check passed. Please keep personal information out of the conversation.
- Thermly accounts. When a business uses the Thermly app, we store the name, email, role and mobile number (if given) of each person with an account, so they can sign in with a one-time code sent by text or email. A business can invite someone by their mobile number; we text that number one invitation with a link to sign in. While you're signed in we keep a session record with the IP address and browser it came from.
- How you use the Thermly app. While you're signed in to the Thermly app on the web or on your phone, we record what you do in it so we can see how Thermly is used and make it better: which screens you open and when, what you tap, the decisions you make, notes you write, whether a notification reached you and whether you opened it, when the app opens and closes, and errors and crashes with what the app was doing. Each record carries your account and your company, a random identifier for your browser or this install of the app, and the app's version. We don't record your location or keep your IP address with these records. We don't use them for advertising and don't share them with anyone; they're kept on our own systems (Cloudflare), and only Thermly staff can see them.
- Talking to Jackson in the app. In the Thermly app, on the web or on your phone, you can talk by voice with Jackson, Thermly's AI agent, about your company's equipment, shipments and open items. Your microphone is used only after you choose to start a call, and only while it's on; a call ends after 30 seconds of quiet, asks every 5 minutes whether to keep going, and ends after 20 minutes at most, and on your phone it ends when you leave the app. Bland, our voice provider, processes the audio and the conversation for us under its privacy policy, and may record the audio of these in-app conversations and keep that recording in our Bland account. Thermly keeps no audio of them: we keep the transcript and a summary, when the call started and ended and how long it lasted, what it cost, which page you started it from, and anything you asked to change or to pass on, with the business's call logs. Anything Jackson changes from an in-app call happens only after you tap Confirm.
- Equipment and readings. Thermly tags report temperature readings, when each was taken and roughly where the tag was last seen, so a business can see how its machines, coolers and shipments are doing and where they are. The business also enters its sites, equipment, safe ranges and the people it works with, with their roles and schedules.
- Incidents. When something needs attention, we keep what Thermly noticed, who it contacted, their replies, call transcripts and what was agreed, together as the business's record.
- Texts and calls. See Texts and calls (Thermly Alerts) below.
- Visiting thermly.io. The website has no ads and no tracking or advertising cookies. Our host, Cloudflare, logs requests (such as the IP address, browser and page) to run and protect the site, and the page fonts load from Google Fonts, so your browser asks Google for them.
Texts and calls (Thermly Alerts)
Thermly Alerts sends alerts, check requests, follow-ups and good-news notes by text, and calls from Jackson, Thermly's AI assistant, to people who signed up themselves, plus one-time codes to people who ask for them, and one invitation to a number a business enters to invite someone to its Thermly app. The SMS terms describe the program, how people sign up, and sample messages.
Mobile phone numbers and SMS opt-in consent collected for Thermly Alerts are not shared with, sold to, or rented to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We share them only with the service providers that deliver our messages and calls, and only to deliver them.
For texts and calls, we store:
- your mobile number, your name, and the business whose alerts you signed up for (and the machine, if you signed up from a QR sticker on it);
- the record of your consent: when you signed up, the IP address and browser you used, the page, the exact wording you agreed to and the checkbox you checked; and your consent status and when it changed, including any STOP or START reply and when it arrived;
- a log of the texts sent to and received from your number, with their delivery status, and for calls, when they happened, a transcript and what was agreed. We don't record the audio of these phone calls. (Talking to Jackson in the app works differently: see Talking to Jackson in the app.)
We use this only to send the texts and calls you agreed to, honor STOP and HELP, show the business whether its alerts reached you and what was agreed, and show that you consented. Replies you text back, and what's said on calls, are read by our software, including AI models, to understand answers like "door was open, shut it now", and are shown to the business. A business can add your name to its list of people, but your mobile number comes only from your own sign-up.
During the pilot we keep everything. Thermly is in its pilot, and we're learning how people use it. While it lasts we keep the full content of every text, reply, call summary and transcript, and every interaction with Thermly's agent and the app, so our team can review them, see where Thermly helped or fell short, and fix it. The businesses in the pilot know this. Before Thermly opens to everyone we'll set shorter retention periods and update this page.
Reply STOP to any text to stop texts and calls, or START to opt back in.
Equipment, not people
Thermly watches refrigerated equipment and shipments, not employees. Where a tag was last seen tells a business where its machine, cooler or shipment is; we don't use it to follow any person.
How long we keep it
- Pilot and order requests, general inquiries, and sales calls, are kept while we're talking with you about your inquiry, a pilot or an order. Email support@thermly.io and we'll delete them.
- Voice demo reports, with their transcripts and any details you asked us to pass on, are retained in our database for 30 days, including reports awaiting email delivery, then removed during scheduled cleanup. A recording Bland keeps in our account follows our Bland account's recording retention. Emailed copies are kept while we evaluate your inquiry or feedback. Email support@thermly.io to ask us to delete a report or its emailed copy.
- Accounts, equipment, readings and incidents are kept while the business uses Thermly, and deleted when it closes its account.
- Message and call logs, including the transcripts and summaries of in-app voice calls, are kept while the business's account is open. A recording Bland keeps of an in-app voice call follows our Bland account's recording retention; email support@thermly.io to ask us to delete it sooner.
- Records of how you use the app, and the full content of messages and interactions, are kept for the whole pilot. When the pilot ends we'll set and publish retention periods for them. Email support@thermly.io to have yours deleted sooner.
- SMS consent and opt-out records are kept for 4 years after the last message to that number, even after an account is closed, so we can show consent was given and keep honoring a STOP.
- One-time codes expire after 5 minutes.
- Backups of our databases are kept for up to 30 days, after which deleted data is gone from them too.
Your choices
- Reply STOP to any text to stop all texts and calls from us. Reply HELP for help.
- Email support@thermly.io to see, correct or delete your information. If a business added you, we may ask it to confirm changes to its account.
- Email support@thermly.io if you'd rather we didn't record how you use the app; we'll stop and delete what we have.
