Thermly Alerts

SMS terms

Last updated October 10, 2026

These terms cover Thermly Alerts, the texts and calls Thermly sends about its customers' refrigerated equipment. Thermly is operated by General Resistance, LLC (generalresistance.com).

The program

Program name: Thermly Alerts. Sent by: General Resistance, LLC, from +1 (864) 635-2627.

Thermly puts thin temperature tags in vending machines, coolers and shipments, and watches their readings for the businesses that own them. When something needs attention, Thermly's AI assistant, Jackson, contacts the people who signed up to hear about it. We send:

  • Alerts and check requests when a machine or cooler is running warm or too cold, a tag stops reporting or its sensor seems stuck, a shipment arrives out of range or is heard heading the wrong way, or someone on site reports a problem: what the readings or the report show, with their times, and one thing to check, such as whether a door is shut.
  • Follow-ups when the time someone gave to deal with it has passed and the readings aren't back in range yet, and requests for a decision, such as approving a service visit.
  • Short good-news notes, such as when readings show a machine is back in range.
  • Replies when you text us. If you text Thermly yourself, Jackson answers about the equipment you signed up for, confirms what you asked for (holding alerts while you restock, a service visit, a change to your schedule), or tells you he has passed it to the team.
  • Calls from Jackson when a text isn't enough: an urgent problem nobody has answered, or a decision that's quicker to talk through. After a call he may text the details or what you agreed.
  • One-time codes, sent only when you ask for one: to confirm your own mobile number when you sign up, or to sign in to the Thermly app.
  • An invitation to a business's Thermly app, one text with a link to sign in, sent when an owner or manager there invites you by your mobile number. It signs you up for nothing.

They go to people at Thermly's business customers who signed up themselves: owners, managers and operators, and staff or contacts at the places where the equipment is, such as the front desk of a gym with a vending machine. The one exception is an invitation, which goes to the number a business entered to invite someone. We don't send marketing or promotional texts or calls.

Message frequency varies. It depends on how often the equipment you signed up for needs attention: you may go weeks without a text, then get a few in a day while something is being fixed.

How you sign up

You sign up for Thermly Alerts yourself. Nobody else can enter your number or agree to texts and calls for you. A business that uses Thermly can only give you a sign-up link or a QR code. It can also invite you to its Thermly app by your mobile number: that is one text with a link to sign in, it signs you up for nothing, and it is the only text we send a number before its owner signs up. We never call a number before its owner signs up.

  1. You get a sign-up link from the business, by email or as a QR code, or you scan the QR sticker on a machine that says "Get a text if this machine needs a hand." Each one opens Thermly's sign-up page, https://app.thermly.io/join/<token>.
  2. You enter your name and your own mobile number and ask for a code. We text a one-time code to that number, and you type it in to show the number is yours.
  3. You read what you're agreeing to and check the box yourself. It starts unchecked, and Sign up stays off until the box is checked and the code is entered.
  4. We record your sign-up (your number, the time, and the exact wording you agreed to) and text you a confirmation:
Sign-up confirmation Sent right after someone signs up, on the sign-up page or in Settings.
Thermly: You're signed up for Lakeside Vending's alerts. Msg frequency varies. Msg&data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out. - Jackson
  5. Texts, and calls when a text isn't enough, follow when the equipment you signed up for needs attention. Reply STOP at any time to stop both.

People with a Thermly account, such as owners and managers, sign up the same way in the app's Settings, for the number on their own account.

Consent to receive texts and calls is not a condition of purchase. We never buy phone numbers or share them for marketing (see the privacy policy).

How people opt in: the screens

People sign up for Thermly Alerts in two places, and at each one they type their own number and confirm it with a one-time code: the sign-up page, which a sign-up link or a machine's QR sticker opens, and Settings in the Thermly app. The sign-up page needs a private link and Settings needs an account, so the screens are shown here with an example business, Lakeside Vending. Any phone number in them is fictional. A working example of the sign-up page, for an example company, is at app.thermly.io/join/example. It saves and sends nothing.

1. The sign-up page, from a link or a QR sticker

Thermly's sign-up page for Lakeside Vending's drink machine: fields for your name and your mobile number, the note about the one-time code, a field for the code, the disclosure, an unchecked checkbox, and a Sign up button.
  1. The person opens the link, or scans the QR sticker, on their own phone. The page names the business, and the machine for a sticker, and asks for their name and mobile number (US or Canada). Under the number it shows:
We'll text a one-time code to confirm this number. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. See SMS terms, Privacy policy, and Terms of use.
  2. They tap Text me a code and type in the code we text them (the one-time code below). It only confirms the number is theirs.
  3. Directly above an unchecked checkbox the page shows, for Lakeside Vending:
By checking the box and tapping Sign up, you agree to receive Thermly Alerts: recurring automated texts and calls, including calls from Thermly's AI assistant, from Thermly (operated by General Resistance, LLC) about Lakeside Vending's refrigerated equipment, such as a machine or cooler running warm, a request to check it, and when it's back in range. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. See SMS terms, Privacy policy, and Terms of use.
The last sentence links to these SMS terms, the privacy policy and the terms of use.
  4. They check the box "I agree to receive alert texts and calls from Thermly at this number." themselves. Sign up stays off until the box is checked and the code is entered.
  5. They tap Sign up. We store the consent record and text the confirmation shown above.

2. The QR sticker on a machine

A printable Thermly sign-up sticker for Lakeside Vending's drink machine at Riverside Gym: a QR code with the line Get a text if this machine needs a hand.

A business can print a sign-up sticker for each machine or cooler and put it next to the machine's Thermly tag. It says "Get a text if this machine needs a hand." Scanning it opens the sign-up page above for that machine, with the same steps. Nothing is sent to anyone who scans it unless they ask for a code or finish signing up.

3. Owners and managers, in Settings

The Texts section of Settings in the Thermly app: the person's own confirmed mobile number, the disclosure, an unchecked checkbox, and a Sign up button.
  1. A signed-in owner or manager opens Settings in the Thermly app. If their account has no mobile number, they add their own and confirm it with a texted code, under the same note:
We'll text a one-time code to confirm this number. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. See SMS terms, Privacy policy, and Terms of use.
  2. Confirming a number doesn't sign anyone up. Directly above a separate, unchecked checkbox, Settings shows the same disclosure as the sign-up page.
  3. They check "I agree to receive alert texts and calls from Thermly at this number." themselves and tap Sign up. Only the person can do this, for the number on their own account. We store the same consent record and text the same confirmation.

Sample messages

These are all the texts we send, word for word, grouped by when they're sent. Names, places, readings, times, links and codes change with each message. The one exception is an answer to a text you send us, which Jackson writes for your question from what Thermly can see. Every text comes from +1 (864) 635-2627 and starts with "Thermly", and texts from Jackson are signed with his name.

Alerts and check requests

When a machine, cooler or shipment may need attention: what the readings or a report show, with their times, and one thing to check.

To stop calls, reply STOP to any text (it stops texts and calls), tell Jackson on a call, or email support@thermly.io.
